Oral history

The oral history stories of the Yates family were told by Sally Yates Duncan & her niece, Rita Yates Lilly.

Sally Yates Duncan (1889-1984) -- daughter of John Pryor Yates & Rebecca Arimenta Brown Yates

Rita Yates Lilly (19__-199?) - - granddaughter of John Pryor Yates & Rebecca Arimenta Brown Yates; daughter of Abe Yates

1971-1983:  Sally Yates Duncan told stories to family members, including Sally Yates Duncan's grandson,
Duncan Work & his wife Lisa Lindberg on their visits to Oklahoma, .

1998:  Rita Yates Lilly told stories to Lisa Lindberg on a visit in Edmond Oklahoma, and then communicated by mail.

The 1st person Family stories are presented verbatim, with shuffling for chronologic clarity.

We occasionally added [ inside of brackets like this ] pieces of information for clarification and also for illumination
-- especially about the people's (usually very young ! !) ages at pivotal times of their lives.
